What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that visited websites send to the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored to be sent back to the same sites on the next visit. For simplicity, this notice also uses the term to cover similar technologies such as browser local storage.
The types used on this site
This site uses: a technical local-storage tool to remember the choice made in the cookie banner; third-party content (the Google Maps map on the Contact page), loaded only after an explicit user action; Google reCAPTCHA on the Contact page, to protect the form against automated submissions, which sets its own technical cookies regardless of the choice made in the banner as it is necessary for the security of the form (see next section). The site does not use profiling cookies for advertising purposes, does not perform statistical tracking, and no marketing pixels are present.
Necessary technical tools
The choice made in the cookie banner (accept/decline) is saved only in the browser's local storage, under the key "altair_cookie_consent", without setting HTTP cookies or sending data to external servers. This tool is strictly necessary for the banner to work and does not require consent, pursuant to Art. 122(1) of the Italian Data Protection Code.
Third-party content and cookies
The Contact page includes an interactive Google Maps map. To avoid automatically setting third-party cookies, the map is not loaded when the page opens: it is shown as a placeholder box and is loaded only if you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner or click the dedicated button inside the box. Once loaded, Google Maps may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy), with possible data transfer to the United States. Even without consent, a direct link remains available to open the location on Google Maps. The Contact page also includes Google reCAPTCHA (v3), a service that analyses interaction with the page in the background to distinguish genuine requests from automated submissions and so protect the contact form from spam. Unlike the map, reCAPTCHA loads automatically when the Contact page opens, regardless of the choice made in the banner, as it is a security tool necessary for the form to work correctly; it sets its own cookies and may collect data such as IP address, device type, and interactions with the page, under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy), with possible data transfer to the United States. The site also loads fonts (Google Fonts) and graphic libraries (Bootstrap, Bootstrap Icons) from external CDNs, needed to render the pages: these services do not set profiling cookies but involve a direct connection to the respective providers' servers, with technical transmission of the device's IP address.
The banner and how long your choice lasts
On first visit, a banner is shown that lets you accept or decline, with equal prominence, the loading of third-party content. The choice remains valid for 6 months, after which the banner is shown again. Choosing "Decline" still allows you to browse the entire site: the map on the Contact page is simply not loaded, with an alternative link to reach it on Google Maps.
How to manage or withdraw your choice
You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Manage cookies" at the bottom of every page, or by clearing browsing data (in particular site data/local storage) from your browser settings. Instructions for managing or disabling cookies are available in the support pages of the main browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
